008 - Nativity of Mary, the Sazerac, and How to Drink Like a Saint, Pt. 2

Mike and Alexandra discuss the Nativity of Mary and the tradition of blessing seeds for fall gardens on this day, as well as the feast’s connection to wine making.

They also discuss the celebration of name days and then continue their five-part series on drinking like a saint.

The Nativity of Mary: September 8th

Drink: The Sazerac

1 splash of  Absinthe

½ tsp. Simple Syrup

2 oz. Rye Whiskey

2 dashes Peychaud bitters

1 Lemon Twist

Place absinthe in a well-chilled old fashioned glass and swirl it around, coating the inside of the glass. Discard the excess. Build the other ingredients in the glass. The Sazerac takes little to no ice.
