027 - St. Agnes, the Lion and the Lamb cocktail, and Allspice Dram Liqueur
Mike and Alexandra discuss a cocktail that was not in the Drinking with the Saints book for St. Agnes, but perhaps would have been. It involves a unique ingredient that not even they have tried before.
They also talk about the life of St. Agnes and then take a look at some fascinating traditions that happen in Rome each year around the feast of St. Agnes.
The Lion and the Lamb Cocktail
1½ oz. bourbon
1½ tsp. allspice dram*
2 dashes bitters
½ oz. lime juice
½ oz. orgeat syrup
1 cherry for garnish
1 lime wedge for garnish
Pour all liquid ingredients into a shaker filled with ice and shake forty times. Strain into an old-fashioned glass with ice and garnish with lime juice wedge and cherry.
*Substitute 1 ½ tsp. of dark rum and ½ tsp. of combined ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove
