013 - Inventing a Drink for St. Edward the Confessor

Mike and Alexandra learn about St. Edward the Confessor and his father’s bizarre nickname, and then invent a drink on the spot in honor of St. Edward. Will it turn out to be any good?

They also get to the bottom of what exactly a confessor even is, and throw in a bonus drink for another saint who is celebrated today.

St. Edward the Confessor: October 13th

Drink: The Royal Touch

1 ½ oz. London Dry gin

¾ oz. Chambord

1 egg white

¾ oz. lemon juice

Dash of bitters

Mix all ingredients except bitters and dry shake without ice. Then add ice and shake again. Strain into a cocktail glass. Add bitters to “float” on top.

Mike’s newest book is out! Check out “Why We Kiss Under the Mistletoe: Christmas Traditions Explained” now!

Don’t miss the Spain and Portugal pilgrimage river cruise with Mike, Alexandra, and Fr. Leo Patalinghug April 22 - May 3, 2023. Get the details at drinkingwiththesaints.com
